Gallery Bash

Invited to the opening of Lava Glass Gallery yesterday by Evelyn Henschke.
Really impressed with the range and qualiy from professional glass Artists in the South -West.
Highly recommended - stop in on the way Down South or on the return journey.

Went on to Yallingup Gallery's  Garden Gallery (134 Marrinup Drive ),opening - works by Nelly Crawford, Larry Mitchell and Douglas Kirsop.
Study of Nellie's still lifes, (stilled lives?) will tell you much about composition, observation, light, mood and drawing and painting competence - aspects often neglected or undervalued in contemporary art instruction. Look and learn.

Larry Mitchell continues to demonstrate mastery of large , representational landscape in new works, and his treatment of water and aerial perspective are consistently impressive.

Douglas Kirsop's large Kimberley and Pilbara pieces represent a real understanding of this difficult country.  Few Artists can come close to his interpretation of light in landscape but his recent forays into abstraction are an exciting and intriguing direction

Wish I was Here

Waldo in Deep Thought

My solo show coming up at ArtGeo Gallery in Busselton is called
"Wish I was Here" and really looks at the range of work I do and my essential distractability.
So -
a quick sketch of Waldo on the iPad to get going in the studio.
I'm supposed to be working on 4 large canvasses at the same time, and its not going entirely well. On, on.

I also have a 'Drawing Essentials' workshop at the studio on Monday suitable for all levels, and need to do a bit of prep for that.

10am to 12 - $100.00 Two places left and a cup of tea at half-time. Should be fun. Back to the paints

Cultural Desert

A quick version of Cultural Desert for the T-Shirt series using Paper 53 on my iPad.
Sadly lots more truly bad puns and double entendres to come!
Cultural Dessert? Peas in our Time? Red Eye Flight?
I'm offering a framed copy of the final artwork as a prize for successful suggestions!

I decided  the hare ( called Albrecht) needed retro glasses to go with his shirt. Opinions are divided. Is it a better image without the glasses? I might exhibit both on the 12th at ArtGeo.

Imposing the Grid

Had a busy session at Dunsborough Art Soc. last night,
working on these small abstractions of the ITG series
Now in the studio exploring more ideas for prints. Pity. Theres quite a good surf at Yalls today!
